Experience

  • Since Sepetember 2009: Speech and Language Group at Barcelona Media Innovation Centre (Spain). Researcher. Responsible for preparing research proposals, conducting research, and developing, evaluating and implementing technologies for specific applications in the areas of opinion mining and cross-language information retrieval.
  • October 2007 - September 2009: Information Management Group at Barcelona Media Innovation Centre (Spain). Researcher. Ramón y Cajal fellowship program. Responsible for the group´s participation in the CENIT project I3Media, a Spanish government funded project devoted to R&D on automatic management technologies for intelligent audiovisual contents. The project activities include information retrieval applications, recommendder systems, user profiling, contextual advertisement, automatic document categorization.
  • Summer 2007: Institute for Infocomm Research (Singapore).Visiting Scientist. Exploratory research activities for Spanish-Chinese SMT. Several baseline experi-ments for exploring Spanish-morphology incidence on the Chinese-Spanish translation task were conducted.
  • September 2004 - September 2007: Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña (Spain). Researcher. Ramón y Cajal fellowship program. Research work in the TC-STAR project at the TALP research center (Department of Communications and Signal Theory), in the area of Statistical Machine Translation. Responsible for UPC cooperation activities with other research centers in the TC-STAR consortium.
  • September 1999 - August 2004: Part time professor at Universidad Católica Andrés Bello, Department of Telecommunication Engineering (2003-2004); Universidad Simón Bolívar, Department of Electronics Engineering and Department of Adminsitrative and Economics Science (2002-2004); Universidad Nueva Esparta, Department of Electronics Engineering (1999-2001).
  • January 2001 - February 2003: PDVSA - Intevep Reseach Center (Venezuela). Researcher / Project Leader. Non-linear Geophysics and Rock-Fluid System Identification. Responsible for the generation of innovative methods for geophysical data analysis and technological products for rock-fluid system characterization by using rock-physics based models, seismic attributes and statistical data analysis.
  • Spetember 1998 - December 2000: PDVSA - Intevep Reseach Center (Venezuela). Researcher / Staff Geophysicist. Applied and developed classification and estimation methods to real data in some important Venezuelan exploration and production fields. Developed methods for seismic attribute pattern classification and seismic attribute based property estimation by using different neural network architectures.
