Miquel Oliver, professor of the Department of Information and Communication Technologies at Pompeu Fabra University and a coordinator of Network Technologies and Strategies Group (NeTS-UPF), has presented the main research areas of the group to the assistants of the 3rd June session of BM Seminars’ cycle, which are organized by Barcelona Media.
The aim of the NeTS-UPF Group, which is composed by five Ph.D. researchers and seven Ph.D. students, is design and analyze the networking technologies and strategies, which are shaping the knowledge society, especially in the area of wireless communications. Professor Oliver has explained that the group, through multidisciplinary research methodologies, executes projects, among others, in P2P protocols for video applications, WiFi deployment in municipalities or techniques to increase the capacity and quality in Wireless Networks. It’s also working in the creation of multiservice wireless sensor networks (WSN) that allows measurements of utilities (water, gas and electricity) or can be used to forecast fire in forests or in meteorology.
NeTS-UPF Group collaborates with Barcelona Media in the realization of projects like BREIN or ICING.
