i3media, a technology research and development project for the creation and automated management of intelligent audiovisual content, has just successfully completed its first year of research, having achieved all the objectives initially proposed.

Barcelona Media is one of the organisations participating in i3media through a consortium of companies in conjunction with 19 research groups. The project has an annual budget of almost €35 million, it receives support from the Ministry of Industry and has a four-year timeframe for its completion, from 2007 to 2010.

On the occasion of the first year of the project's existence, a work session was held between representatives from the companies and groups involved in i3media. During the meeting, which was opened by project coordinator David Xirau, the results for the first year were presented, as well as the objectives for the coming years, which will be orientated toward the creation of experimental assets that will enable participants to observe, listen, read and, in many cases, enjoy the results. The project director Jaume Ferrús closed the session, which was held in the head office of Mediapro.
