Kick off meeting of the European Project APIDIS
Jan 19, 2008 - BM news
The European Project APIDIS- Autonomous Production of Images based on Distributed and Intelligent Sensing – held its kickoff meeting at Barcelona Media – Innovation Centre last Thursday and Friday, January 17th and 18th, 2008.
APIDIS will investigate the automatic extraction of intelligent content from networks of multi-modal sensors. It will exploit the knowledge to automate the production of video content for controlled scenarios (sports events or surveillance). The project will also consider personalised and potentially interactive content summarization mechanisms to address heterogeneous user needs and access conditions. APIDIS will develop applications that are cost-effective and fully automated for production of content dedicated to small-audience (e.g. personal recordings, university lectures etc.) and also automated summarization for video surveillance.
Barcelona Media will pursue research in two main areas: user interaction and artificial intelligence. It will also provide the administrative management for APIDIS. The project’s Scientific Coordinator is Université Catholique de Louvain of Belgium.
The APIDIS project partners are:
- Université catholique de Louvain, UCL, Belguim
- Queen Mary& Westfield College, University of London, QMUL, United Kingdom
- Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, EPFL, Switzerland
- Barcelona Media – Innovation Centre, BMCI, Spain
- ACIC sa, ACIC, Belgium
- Mediapro, MP, Spain
APIDIS is co-funded by the European Union under the seventh framework programme.
