The House of Languages Visitor's Centre opens its doors

Since early 2007, the Barcelona Media Culture and Tourism Lab. is involved in the project to create Linguamón - House of Languages. A project initiated by the Government in order to promote the use and development of all languages, and which is destined to become a new engine for the city of Barcelona and a knowledge center and new services dedicated to the management of multilingualism. The Culture and Tourism Lab. in collaboration with other units of Barcelona Media, developed the museum project and the preliminary draft of the new museum building, which will incorporate the latest technological advances in the field of audiovisual communication, within the about 7,000 m2 of soil of the former factory of Can Ricart, in the heart of Poble Nou and the 22 @ district.

On Friday 20th November, the execution of the project started with the opening of the Visitors Center of Linguamón. This space, which will remain open until the opening of the permanent headquarters, aims to inform the public of the key aspects of this ambitious project and, in turn, track the rehabilitation of the industrial complex, which is scheduled to start during the first quarter of 2010. The executive project of the Visitor Center has also been performed by the Culture and Tourism Lab.
