Jordi Pardo and Damià Moragues participate in the I National Congress of Cultural Politics of Peru, in the frame of the IMPULSO programme

The I National Congress of Cultural Politics is celebrated in Lima and it is organized by the Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo (AECID) and the Instituto Nacional de Cultura del Perú (INC), with more than 500 participants. The congress is the frame of the IMPULSO programme for the development of the cultural politics, in which a technical team is working. The team is integrated by Gonzalo Carámbula (Uruguay), Jorge Delgado, Rosanna Zárate (Perú), Damià Moragues, Eduard Miralles and Jordi Pardo, director of the Barcelona Media Cultural Lab (Spain).

The congress has been organized by a commission presided by the National Director of the Peruvian INC, Cecilia Bákula and the director of the Cultural Centre of Spain in Lima, Ricardo Ramon.

IMPULSO is promoted and financed by the AECID and boosted by the Cultural Centre of Spain in Lima and the INC. The programme has a support office in Peru, coordinated by the Peruvian actor Jorge Delgado and by the architect Rosanna Zárate, Jordi Pardo is the technical director.

The finance includes the reconstruction of the Paracas museum is included - The museum was seriously affected by the devastating earthquake on 15th August 2007 – the development of a discussion and participation project of the culture sectors by means of eight sector work groups around the country – which have mobilized more than 100 cultural representatives along 8 months of work – and the organization of the I National Congress of Political Cultures of Peru.

Cecilia Bákula, Luis Cueto representing the General Managing of the scientific and cultural relations of the Cooperation Spanish Agency; Ricardo Ramon; Jorge Delgado, coordinator of the congress and Mauricio Delfin, representing the sector work groups took part in the round table of the opening session of the Congress. The Congress has reflected on the base of the results of these 8 work groups, which have had meetings and elaborated documents with the coordination of the BM team.

This is the first congress that is organized in this country in the field of cultural politics and has the aim to create a stable meeting point and dialogue between the cultural managers and the different sectors of culture in order to promote the development and the institutional strengthening of the culture in Peru. At the end of the Congress, the Director of the National Culture Institute and all the congress participants congratulated the whole team of international experts led by the BM Cultural Lab, for the event’s success and organization.
