The Culture Lab organizes a seminar for SEBRAE about culture as a factor for local development

The Barcelona Media Culture Lab has organized, for the Brazilian Support Service for Micro and Small Companies of Brazil (SEBRAE, in their abbreviation in Brazilian) a seminar about the interaction between culture and technology and the idea of culture as a factor for local development. In the sessions, which have been celebrated from 22nd to 26th September, the Culture Lab researchers have shared their experience with more than twenty experts from SEBRAE, who work on culture and development projects around Brazil.

During the sessions, Barcelona Media experts have exposed the cultural projects on which they are working. At the end of each section, the SEBRAE participants have made discussions and workshops of Brazilian projects, in order to facilitate the interaction between both entities. The researchers have visited the Barcelona History Museum, the Parc Güell, the Barcelona Activa headquarters and the Monteserrat mountain.

Representatives from the Brazilian states of Alagoas, Amazonas, Bahia, Ceará, Brasilia, Espírito Santo, Goiás, Gerais, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Piauí, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Norte, Santa Catarina, Sergipe and São Paulo have participated in the seminar.The coordination has been in charge of Valéria Barros, national coordinator of Tourism and Culture projects and Décio Coutinho, national coordinator of Culture and Enterntainment.

The SEBRAE is a non-profit private organization of public interest, which has as a main objective to promote the competitiveness and sustainable development of the micro and small companies. The institution was created in 1972 as a result of the efforts to stimulate the spirit of business in Brazil.
