We are looking for a part-time research assistant to work on the organizing of and reporting on the evaluation of on-line language teaching materials within the context of a two year Lifelong Learning Programme project, AUTOLEARN, funded by the European Commission.

Requirements:

• IT-literate and able to administer the local testing of the learning materials in collaboration with secondary schools and university-level, second language training institutions.
• Relevant experience in language teaching (abroad as well as in Spain).
• Required Language(s): English, and Spanish and/or Catalan desirable
• Relevant postgraduate qualification (Masters degree, e.g. applied linguistics and/or foreign language teaching) as well as the proven ability to engage with colleagues to secure their collaboration.

Ideally:

• Knowledge and experience in evaluation and assessment of (computer-enhanced) learning experiences is desirable.

Barcelona Media offers a full-time position for a Computational Linguist/Language Engineer to work in the organization, management and maintenance of NLP architectures for linguistic tagging, machine translation and information extraction. The resources and tools to work with will be used in many of the projects where GLiCom/the Voice and Language Group of Barcelona Media is currently involved

Requirements:

• Experience in programming NLP tools in Perl, Python or other languages typically used in the field.
• Acquaintance with linguistics in order to be able to successfully work in processing tools for Catalan, Spanish and English.
• Team spirit.
• Good English skills.

Desirable:

• Knowledge of Catalan and/or Spanish
• A degree, post-graduate or PhD in the areas of Computational Linguistics, Computer Science, etc.

Integration in the 3D department for the creation of real time applications. The candidate will program real time applications by developing tailor made tools for the engine used at the company, and will develop algorithms for resolving repetitive tasks, mainly for 3D Studio Max.

Requirements:

• Solid knowledge of programming orientated towards objects
• Experience in programming 2D/3D algorithms (3D mathematics skills)
• Experience in programming Java/C/C++
• Experience in Direct-X, dominion of 3D Studio Max and experience in programming scripts and plug ins
• Capacity for analysis, creativity and initiative. Be very interested in virtual reality, simulators and video games.

Ideally:

• Qualification as technician in IT

Management of European research and development projects from conception to final conclusion: elaboration of proposals, project monitoring, information and support to researchers, and acting as intermediary between researchers and the different entities.

Requeriments:

• Higher education
• A high level of English is essential (proficiency or similar)
• Experience in monitoring, administration and control of projects.

• IT and/or telecommunications engineering
• Experience in a similar post and knowledge of the management of European projects.

Integration into the support team for research projects. The candidate will program in java and web applications. Tasks will be programming new applications, and adapting and connecting existing free software for research projects.

Requirements:

• Knowledge of information retrieval system and classification techniques.
• Capacity for analysis, creativity and initiative.
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and communicate with researchers of different disciplines
• Ability to work independently.

• Qualification as IT technician or similar.
