Ricardo Baeza of Yahoo! Research Barcelona to open Ibiza congress on virtual worlds

Ricardo Baeza, Director of the Yahoo! Research Barcelona centre (based at Barcelona Media [BM]), will be one of the speakers at the first Congress on Metaverses, "3-D Web and Social Networks in Virtual Worlds", and which will be held in Ibiza on 20th-22nd June.

The event is aimed at educators, academics, students, experts and professionals working with Metaverse, entrepreneurs interested in developing virtual businesses, users of 3-D platforms and anyone from the general public who is interested in finding out more about everything to do with virtual worlds and their possibilities in the world of education, training and work, etc.

The congress will be opened on 20th June with the address “The power of the Web toward the 3-D Web”, which will be given by Ricardo Baeza-Yates, Vice-president of Research for Yahoo! in Europe and Latin America and Director of the Yahoo! Research laboratories in Barcelona, Spain and Santiago de Chile.

Adan Garriga, Scientific Director of BM's Music and Sound R+D line has been involved in the organisation of the congress, through the Centro de Estudios Avanzados de Ibiza y Formentera (CEAV).
