On Wednesday 24th March, Barcelona’s Zoo opened its new attraction Terra de Dragons (Land of Dragons), including a 3D audiovisual production developed by the Barcelona Media’s Culture and Tourism Lab and the Audio Research Line, in collaboration with Emblemma Espais Audiovisuals and Codi AV.

Land of Dragons is the first experience of what is called Zoo-immersion, and recreates in 1,700 m2 the natural habitats of some animals that live in the Asian Pacific zone. In this space, along with two male Komodo dragon in the zoo, there is a Muntjac deer and three species of Asian birds. The Komodo dragon is the world's largest saurian, it can grow up to 3 meters long and weigh around 150 pounds. It is now an endangered specie, since it is estimated that there are only about 5,000 specimens worldwide.

The Zoo’s commitment with innovation has resulted in an audiovisual production with immersive 3D audio, which allows the visitors to live, for a moment, the natural environment of these dragons. Located at the end of the trail, the audiovisual space brings the knowledge of these species closer to the visitor and it provides a higher understanding about the Komodo dragons and the role that zoos play today in research, dissemination and conservation of wildlife.
